Zachary connects with youth and young men in a natural and understanding manner, offering them a supportive, empathetic approach to help navigate life’s challenges. With a focus on anxiety, depression, trauma, modern masculinity, and relational dynamics, Zachary is dedicated to fostering resilience and personal growth. He combines techniques like Somatic Experiencing, Narrative Therapy, and CBT to create a personalized, effective therapeutic experience. Zachary’s practice is grounded in understanding the unique pressures faced by young men, aiming to help them build strength, emotional balance, and healthy relationships.

Confidential and Non-Judgemental

Our adolescent clients benefit from working with a therapist they can trust, who will seek to understand their unique perspective and offer a confidential and non-judgemental space to communicate freely about their experiences. Oftentimes, youth “think better when doing together.” Engaging in an activity together, such as through expressive arts, taking a walk or even drinking a cup of hot chocolate, can help the words flow more easily and advance the insights and healing in therapy.

NeurAlive counsellors always customize their counselling sessions to the unique needs of the child or youth and their family, while working closely with parents – where appropriate – to co-create a treatment plan.

The majority of our child and youth clients will supplement their counselling sessions with neurofeedback brain-training. This is an excellent tool for calming the nervous system, providing relief from anxiety, improving self-regulation, stabilizing behaviour, and increasing mental clarity and focus. Our younger clients also really enjoy the process.

Dynamical Neurofeedback®

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive brain training technology that helps improve mental and emotional well-being. Using real-time data, it teaches the brain to regulate itself more effectively, leading to better overall functioning. For youth, neurofeedback can offer several key benefits:

Enhancing Cognitive Function: It can improve focus, reduce impulsivity, and sharpen decision-making skills, which are especially important during school years and adolescence.

Regulating Emotions:
Neurofeedback helps the brain better manage stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma-related symptoms, supporting emotional resilience in youth.

Promoting Relaxation:
By training the brain to achieve and maintain a calm state, neurofeedback helps young people handle stress and anger more effectively, promoting better mental balance.
