Elinor Shares Her Story Finding NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback

“Eight years ago I was on the lookout for more tools to help my family and my counselling clients. When I found neurofeedback, I was intrigued. Something that we could simply and painlessly connect our brains to for training self-regulation was showing powerful results for a range of mental, emotional and behavioural issues in people of all ages. I researched the technology for two months and decided that I’d like to try it for myself. I chose NeurOptimal® Dynamical Neurofeedback®, for its ease of use and safe and holistic approach. Many people were reporting excellent results from using this system, relieving symptoms associated with a variety of issues, like ADHD, PTSD, chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, brain injuries, neurological and developmental disorders, and more.

I began giving myself sessions and after a while, without really trying, some of my challenges began to dissolve away. I felt more confident. Clearer. More energized and relaxed. Happier. My nervous system was settling. I no longer experienced regular headaches or heart palpitations, and I could drink coffee for the first time in years without feeling jittery and strung out. It was working.

I began to train my six-year-old daughter as well. She was dealing with a lot of stress at school, and it was coming out in her body in the form of tics. After 3 sessions, these tics – which were previously happening multiple times per hour – were gone completely.

Shortly thereafter, I was certified in the technology and brought the system to the elementary school where I was a counsellor. I trained 6 students over the course of 3 months. The results were more than promising. We made a video about the program viewable here.

Regularly astounded by the results I was seeing in my clients over the following two years, I decided that I wanted to share neurofeedback more broadly and opened NeurAlive’s first location in Oak Bay in 2018. That eventually closed for a year during Covid, but was reopened with my business partner and now-husband Brenden Taylor in Fernwood at our current location.

The rest is history as they say. Over a thousand happy families later, we now have two locations in Victoria and Langford and we get the great blessing of witnessing people’s lives change every single day.  It never gets old.”

In addition to offering this transformative technology, NeurAlive now hosts a fantastic team of counselling therapists who work with children, youth, and families as well as a community clinic.
