About Julia Allen, MA RCC

Registered Clinical Counsellor

With thirty-five years of experience in the counselling field, Julia brings a wealth of wisdom and a nurturing approach to guide you towards healing and personal growth. She has developed expertise in numerous areas including eating disorders, anxiety, trauma, parenting, chronic pain, psychedelic integration, and grief and loss. She works with children (5+), youth, adults and families.

In addition to holding a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Julia also possesses certificates in Inter-professional Mental Health and Adult and Community Education (CACE), all of which support an integrative approach for her clients.

Eating Disorders: Julia’s unique background in nutrition and dietetics, combined with her counseling psychology expertise, allows her to offer a comprehensive approach to addressing eating disorders. Julia is adept at considering the complex interplay of psychological, emotional, and physical factors, and empowers clients to achieve lasting recovery and a positive relationship with food and their bodies. When necessary, Julia works closely with family members to ensure the environmental context and relational dynamics are attended to in order to assure higher levels of support and greater potential for change.

Julia’s counselling style is trauma-informed and draws from various modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Jungian analysis, client-centred humanistic therapy, somatic psychology, and dream analysis and integration. She also integrates mindfulness practices into her sessions, recognizing their profound impact on overall well-being and personal growth. Julia is committed to leading clients towards greater feelings of joy, gratitude, and an awe-inspiring experience of life by addressing trauma and other obstacles to inner growth.

For those seeking to delve deeper into their life’s purpose, Julia supports clients in connecting with their inner spiritual guidance to discover their Soul’s direction and path. Julia believes we each have a depth of wisdom from which to draw upon, to develop trust in, and to listen to as a way to inform our daily lives and the choices we make.  Through a practice she developed herself, called Soul Catching, Julia uses environmental orientation and nature relatedness to access deeper parts of the Self.
